These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Qrype (the "Service"), operated from qrype.com. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. What Qrype does

Qrype helps restaurants and hotels turn existing menus into hosted, QR-accessible menu pages. Specifically, the Service:

• Accepts uploads in image, PDF, CSV, or Excel (.xlsx) format and uses an AI model to extract menu structure (categories, items, prices, allergens, dietary flags).
• Stores the extracted menu in our database and renders a public page at qrype.com/<your-handle>.
• Generates a customisable QR code that links to that public page.
• Optionally translates menu items into other languages on demand using the same AI model.

2. Free trial, grace period, and subscription

New accounts get a 30-day free trial with full editing capability. No credit card is required to start the trial.

After the trial ends, continued editing requires a Qrype Pro subscription, billed via Stripe at $7.99 USD/month or $60 USD/year (equivalent to $5/month). When the trial ends, the Service follows this lifecycle:

• Days 30–44 (14-day grace period): editing is paused, but the public menu page at qrype.com/<your-handle> stays online. Printed QR codes keep working. A small banner is shown on the public page indicating the menu may go offline.
• Day 44 (menu goes inactive): the public page switches to an “account inactive” placeholder until you reactivate. Your menu data, theme, translations, and QR design are preserved.
• Day 74 (permanent deletion): if you have not reactivated within 30 days of going inactive, the account and all menus are permanently deleted via cascade. There is no recovery after this point.

You will receive email reminders at days 27, 30, 41, and 44 so there is no surprise. Subscribing at any point during the lifecycle (before day 74) restores full access immediately, with all data intact.

Subscriptions renew automatically. You can cancel at any time through the Stripe customer portal accessible from your billing page; you keep access through the end of the paid period.

3. Acceptable use

You agree that you will:

• Only upload menus you own or have permission to publish on behalf of the establishment.
• Not upload illegal content, copyrighted material you don't have rights to, or anything you'd be embarrassed to print.
• Not abuse the upload pipeline (bulk-extract competitors' menus, scrape, etc.).
• Not attempt to reverse-engineer, attack, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure.

4. Your content

You retain all rights to the content you upload. You grant Qrype a limited licence to host, display, process, and (when you ask) translate that content for the purpose of operating the Service. We don't sell your menu data, don't use it to train models, and stop processing it the moment you delete your account.

5. AI accuracy disclaimer

Menu items, prices, allergens, and dietary flags extracted from your uploads are generated by an AI model and may contain errors. You are responsible for reviewing the extracted menu and correcting any mistakes before publishing. Qrype does not guarantee the accuracy of AI-extracted allergen or dietary information, and is not liable for any harm arising from inaccurate menu data displayed on a public page.

6. Account termination

You may delete your account at any time by emailing support@qrype.com. Upon deletion, your manager record, restaurant data, menus, and authentication record are permanently removed via cascade — there is no recovery. Public menu pages tied to your handles go offline immediately.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

7. Service availability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We aim for high uptime but make no guarantee of uninterrupted availability. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Qrype's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim. Qrype is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced via email to the address on your account. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the new Terms.
